Job Search Strategies - The Interview Starts Before It Starts

If you’re on their property – or on their block – you’re on stage. The interview begins with the impression you make on everyone you encounter from the moment you step out of your car – or get on the block where the company is located. People from the company are always in the vicinity of the company and are very likely to be asked their opinion of you. This includes the parking lot attendant, the security guard, and, especially, the receptionist.

The Assumption Clause

Should you lie on your resume? That was also a question I asked the men that taught me the game. Here are some of their answers:

  • How bad do you want the job?
  • If you lie, make sure someone will swear to it.
  • You don’t have to lie, just use the Assumption Clause.
  • I could not justify putting things on my resume that weren’t true. However, I wanted to know more about that Assumption Clause. Using Social Networking Websites To Progress Your Career

It’s amazing how quickly ideas and perceptions change in the online world. For example the emergence of social networking sites have taken Internet users by storm and has therefore creating a huge debate over their purposes and how they should (or shouldn’t) be used.

The burning issue over the use of social networking sites is if the information on the websites could or should be used as evidence. For example information posted on these types of sites could provide evidence required to convict people of offences. As well as this, there is an issue of visibility. By this I am referring to the fact that once you post information online, in most cases it is there to stay. With auto-archiving websites such as “the way back machine” and not forgetting Google’s cache, a hasty delete may not be enough.

Facing Anxiety Before Your Job Interview

After receiving the good news, your hands start to grow numb. You’re starting to feel butterflies in your stomach. It’s not a very good feeling. You wanted this job so much, and now that you have a chance to be interviewed for it you feel that you might just not be ready enough to handle the responsibility. Perspiration starts to slide down your face. This odd feeling leave you thinking if you did the right thing applying for the job.

When you speak their language and they understand your language, the stage is set for better communication, increased productivity and increased profitability. I was reminded of this when one of my client’s commented, “Why do my younger employees keep talking about this whole ‘balance’ thing, when there’s work to be done?”

There are a couple of important things to consider here.
