How To Encourage Each Other! A Tip For Couples Working Together
Sandy and her husband Bob could hardly keep their eyes open while they listened to a late night internet marketing teleseminar .They were physically tired and mentally exhausted. Sandy had to work late at her regular job and Bob was just getting in from a longer than usual plumbing job.
The teleseminar was the fourth of 10 sessions they had invested in to make more money using the internet. They were frustrated and tired because they had not made any money. They knew that it would be hard work but they had not seen many results in the long hours they stayed up working on websites and blogs.
By now, most of their friends were frustrated with them. No longer could they attend major events like birthday parties, retirement parties or even weddings. They only thing they had time for was funerals and hospital visits. They were still committed to encouraging others when they were in need but needed encouragement themselves.
No one seemed to know what he or she was doing in their FREE time.
How They Encouraged Themselves
It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and Bob said to Sandy, “Let’s write ourselves a letter.” “What are you talking about?, asked Sandy, as she looked up from her computer. Bob continued by saying, “Let’s write a letter or send ourselves a card listing all the things that are going right with our lives right now.” We should also write down why we are trying to do the internet marketing.
Sandy, was quiet for a minute and said, “Aren’t we doing it because we can help others with the resources we will have.” Yes, said Bob, I agree, but what about the rest of our life, has it been purposeful? Are we on the right track? Where is our pat on the back?
Sandy could see that Bob was getting frustrated. She stopped typing and sat down next to him. On the table were two encouragement cards they were going to send to someone else. She quietly began to write words of encouragement to her husband Bob. She sealed it up and put a stamp on it.
Bob, did not attempt to read the card right then but knew what she was doing. He reached out to get the second card and wrote words of encouragement to his wife Sandy.
Both of them sat in their living room and talked about their goals, dreams and hurts. They prayed and hugged each other. They decided to put work aside for the rest of the afternoon and went to see a movie. However, before they went in they stopped at a mailbox to mail their cards.
They encouraged each other that day and felt renewed energy. A week later, they saw a check in the mail from one of their internet projects that put even more fuel on the fire of their goals.
Sometimes when no one else is encouraging you, you encourage yourself. Review your goals and purpose and applaud what accomplishments you have already achieved. It works!
